Ex-Calcutta HC Chief Justice Prakash Shrivastava Appointed as New NGT Chairperson

Justice Prakash Shrivastava, the former Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

Justice Shrivastava is set to succeed Justice Sheo Kumar Singh as the Chairperson. Following the retirement of the former Chairperson, Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel, Justice Singh was appointed as the acting chairperson of the tribunal on July 7.

Born on March 31, 1961, Justice Shrivastava embarked on his journey as an advocate in 1987. His practice primarily revolved around tax, civil, and constitutional law at the Supreme Court.

Subsequently, he was elevated as an additional judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court on January 18, 2008, before being appointed as a permanent judge on January 15, 2010.

In the subsequent course of his illustrious career, Justice Shrivastava assumed the mantle of the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court, serving from October 11, 2021, until his retirement on March 30, 2023.
