Firing at Shiv Sena Functionary: BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad Files Plea Before Thane Court Seeking Home-Cooked Meal

Maharashtra BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad, who stands accused of firing at Shiv Sena functionary Mahesh Gaikwad, has filed an application in a Thane court, seeking permission for home-cooked meals during his police custody and requesting meetings with his legal representatives, as stated by his counsel.

The application was filed before a court in Chopda in Ulhasnagar town of Thane district and is anticipated to be heard on Tuesday, according to the counsel. Gaikwad, the legislator arrested for allegedly discharging multiple rounds at Mahesh Gaikwad, the Kalyan unit president of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, amid a land dispute, remains in police custody until February 14.

Ganpat Gaikwad purportedly opened fire at Mahesh Gaikwad, causing injuries to the latter’s associate, Rahul Patil, on Friday night within a senior inspector’s cabin at the Hill Line police station in Ulhasnagar, as per officials’ previous statements. A day prior to the incident, the complainant, the accused MLA, and several others convened to address a land dispute, leading to its resolution, according to the FIR registered concerning the shooting incident based on a builder’s complaint.

The three-time Kalyan (East) MLA faces charges of attempted murder and other offenses in connection with the case.
