Forgery Case: Bengaluru Court Grants Conditional Bail to Latha Rajinikanth

In connection with a dispute related to the 2014 film titled ‘Kochadaiiyaan,’ a Bengaluru court has granted conditional bail to Latha Rajinikanth, the wife of Tamil film actor Rajinikanth, who is accused in a forgery case.
Latha Rajinikanth personally appeared before the Magistrate court in Bengaluru and submitted an application seeking discharge in the case.
The court has postponed the hearing to January 6.
Bail was granted by the court upon the submission of a personal bond amounting to Rs.1 lakh and a cash surety of Rs.25,000.
Specific instructions were given to refrain from influencing witnesses and tampering with evidence.
Latha Rajinikanth faces charges under Sections 196, 199, 463, 420, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
The complainant objected to her discharge application, citing the non-bailable nature of Section 463 of the IPC, and emphasized that she had not yet secured bail.
As per the high court’s directive on December 1, Latha Rajinikanth is required to appear before the court in person on or before January 6, 2024.
The private complaint against Latha was filed by Ad Bureau Advertising, a Chennai-based company involved in financial transactions with M/s Mediaone Global Entertainment Ltd, the production company behind the movie starring Rajinikanth.
The director of ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ was Latha Rajinikanth’s daughter.
Allegedly, Latha Rajinikanth executed a guarantee on behalf of Mediaone Global Entertainment Ltd in favor of Ad Bureau Advertising but failed to honor it after the film incurred losses.
Latha Rajinikanth had previously obtained an injunction against 70 media houses to prevent the publication and telecast of inaccurate news regarding the financial transaction.
The court dismissed her injunction suit in 2015, following which Ad Bureau Advertising filed a private complaint, asserting the use of a false document in the earlier injunction suit filed by Latha Rajinikanth.
