The Former Additional Solicitor General of India (ASG) Satyabrata Mookherjee, passed away on Friday at the age of 90.
He was also the father of present West Bengal Advocate General SN (Gopal) Mookherjee.
Satyabrata Mookherjee was born in Sylhet, Assam, on May 8, 1932. He received his education at Calcutta University. He completed his bar exam at The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn and continued his education at London’s Regent Street Polytechnic.
Before being chosen as the Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate for the 13th Lok Parliament in West Bengal’s Krishnagar (Lok Sabha Constituency) in 1999, he served as Assistant Solicitor General of India.
He served as the Minister of State for Trade and Industry from July 2002 to October 2003 after serving as the Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers from September 2000 to June 2002.
