Gauhati HC Seeks Status of Development Works Undertaken by Bodoland Territorial Council Since 2003

Bodoland Territorial Council

The Gauhati High Court has sought information from the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) about the progress of significant development projects and the employment process since its establishment on February 10, 2003.

The court has also asked for details on the subjects for which the BTC has been given absolute authority.

During the hearing of a PIL filed by Bodo Writer Academy and Others, a division bench of Chief Justice Sandeep Mehta and Justice Arun Dev Choudhury stated that it would be reasonable to request information on these issues since nearly 20 years have passed since its establishment.

The bench directed the petitioners and defendants, which include the Assam government, the Union of India, and the Bodoland Territorial Council, to provide their respective affidavits on the aforementioned matter as soon as possible.

The case has been scheduled for further consideration on 22nd June, 2023.
