GUJARAT HIGH COURT DIRECTS ALL JUDICIAL OFFICERS TO STRICTLY OBSERVE COURT’S WORKING HOURS

The Gujarat High Court has directed all judicial officers in the state to maintain strict observance of court working hours and punctually dispose judicial business.

This came after was after the High Court’s attention was drawn towards the frequent violation of instructions contained in Paragraph 2(B) of Chapter-I of the Civil Manual and various High Court Circulars and letters issued with regard to the observance of court working hours and full-time sitting in courtroom during working hours. However, despite the High Court had issued various circulars and orders in the past. Further, it was observed by the court that there was no improvement in the situation.

The High Court through its order dated 27.02.2018, in its order the court emphasised upon the need for observance of court working hours. In the State Judiciary all the principal judicial officer were also requested to identify the judicial officers not following these instructions issued by the High Court and to submit a report with regards to non-observance of court working hours by judicial officers working therein, to the High Court of Gujarat

Accordingly, it is been warned by the High Court that non-observance of court working hours will be viewed seriously and may invite disciplinary action against erring judicial officers.
