Gyanvapi: Varanasi Court to Hear Plea Against Worship in Cellar on Feb 28

Gyanvapi

A Varanasi court on Thursday scheduled February 28 as the hearing date for the Gyanvapi Masjid committee’s plea against the recently permitted puja in a cellar of the mosque, as stated by the Hindu side counsel, Madan Mohan Yadav.

The Varanasi district court’s ruling on January 31 allowed a priest to conduct prayers before the idols in the southern cellar of the Gyanvapi mosque. Subsequently, the mosque committee challenged the verdict by filing a petition in court.

Advocate Yadav said that Additional District Judge Anil Kumar has set February 28 for the hearing.

Additionally, the mosque committee has filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court challenging the district court’s verdict.
