Hathras Stampede Case: 11 Accused Appears In Court, Next Hearing On Aug 23

Hathras Stampede

A total of 11 individuals accused in the July 2 Hathras stampede case, which resulted in the tragic loss of 121 lives, appeared before a local court on Monday.

The accused, among them two women, are currently held in Aligarh jail and participated in the hearing virtually, according to their lawyer, AP Singh.

Last month, the police arrested these 11 individuals, including the main suspect, Devprakash Madhukar, in connection with the case.

AP Singh also emphasized a conspiracy theory regarding the incident, suggesting that a group of 15-16 unidentified men used a “toxic spray” during the event, which triggered the deadly stampede. He further claimed that one of the arrested individuals was not even in Hathras on July 2.

The stampede occurred following a ‘satsang’ held by self-proclaimed godman Surajpal, also known as Baba Bhole or Narayan Sakar Hari, in the Sikandra Rao area. The tragic event led to the deaths of 121 people, mostly women, and left 31 others injured.

The district court has scheduled the next hearing for August 23.
