The Central government on Tuesday notified the appointment of Justice Todupunuri Amarnath Goud as the Acting Chief Justice of Tripura High Court.
“In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint, Shri Justice Todupunuri Amarnath Goud (PHC: Telangana), senior most puisne Judge of Tripura High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from 23.02.2023 consequent upon the retirement of Shri Jaswant Singh, Chief Justice of Tripura High Court,” the notification stated.
On the retirement of incumbent Chief Justice Jaswant Singh on February 23, 2023, Justice Goud will take over as acting Chief Justice High Court.
In 1990, Judge Todupunari Amarnath Goud registered with the Andhra Pradesh Bar Council as an advocate. He has been appointed by the High Court to serve as an arbitrator, amicus curiae, advocate commissioner, and panel attorney for the Andhra Pradesh High Court legal services committee in a number of proceedings.
The Andhra Pradesh High Court Advocates Association employed Justice TA Goud as Vice President, Joint Secretary, Treasurer, and a member of the Executive Committee. In order to serve the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Justice Goud was raised to the position of judge on the High Court of Judicature in Hyderabad. In 2021, he took an oath to serve as a Tripura High Court judge.
Justice Goud was appointed Acting Chief Justice in November 2022 too, following the retirement of then Chief Justice Indrajit Mahanty.
