Kandhamal Court in Odisha has sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a school girl.
In a fast-track court, Judge Anita Sahu convicted Nagarjun Bisoi after examining 13 witnesses, along with medical and scientific reports.
The court handed down a 20-year rigorous imprisonment sentence and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on Bisoi, as stated by special public prosecutor Banamali Behera.
According to the prosecution, on May 19, 2022, Bisoi enticed the 14-year-old girl while she was on her way to school, took her on his motorcycle to Phulbani town, and, on their way back to her village, forcibly dragged her to a mountain where he committed the crime.
The girl’s mother filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Bisoi at Phulbani Sadar police station on May 21, 2022, leading to his subsequent arrest.
