A Court in Kerala on Saturday found controversial self-styled antiques dealer Monson Mavunkal guilty of raping a minor girl.

The Additional District and Sessions Court (POCSO), Ernakulam, pronounced him guilty of multiple counts of raping the maid’s daughter since 2019.

The court will announce the punishment at a later date. Hailing from Cherthala, Mavunkal, who asserts possession of rare and historic antiques, was apprehended by the district crime branch.

The branch had been investigating a case involving Mavunkal cheating various individuals out of Rs 10 crore. On September 25, 2021, Mavunkal was arrested in connection with one of the cheating cases and has since remained in custody. Currently, he faces accusations in approximately 10 cases.
