The Rouse Avenue court instructed the competent authority to decide on prosecution sanction for former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and 31 other public servants within 2 weeks.
Special CBI judge Vishal Gogne set July 31 for the next hearing regarding the conclusive charge sheet filed by the CBI, which is currently under consideration.
CBI’s Special Public Prosecutor DP Singh informed the court about the pending prosecution sanctions against the accused public servants.
Previously In The Case
On June 7, the CBI had filed a conclusive charge sheet implicating Lalu Prasad Yadav and 77 others, including 38 candidate accused, in the land-for-job case. Earlier, on May 29, the court had directed the CBI to submit this charge sheet, expressing dissatisfaction with the delay.
The case involves allegations against Lalu Prasad Yadav, his family members Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav, in the Land for Job Scam. The court had granted bail to them and others on October 4, 2023, related to a fresh charge sheet in the same case.
The CBI alleges that the accused, including a Union Minister of Railways, his family members, and others, were involved in a scam where properties were transferred in exchange for appointments to Group “D” posts in various Railway Zones without proper advertisements. Multiple searches were conducted during the investigation in Delhi and Bihar.
The CBI investigation revealed that the accused allegedly conspired to acquire land parcels in areas connected to them by offering railway jobs to candidates through irregular means. The accused purportedly engaged candidates as substitutes and later regularized them, with documents recovered during searches revealing lists of candidates involved.
Additionally, it is alleged that land parcels worth significantly more were transferred at nominal rates to family members of the then Union Minister of Railways through a private company. Earlier, a chargesheet was filed on October 7, 2022, against 16 accused in this case.
