Maharashtra Court Sentences Man to 10 Years of Imprisonment for Attempted Murder

Attempt to Murder

The Thane District Court in Maharashtra sentenced a 45-year-old man to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for attempting to murder someone during a dispute.

Additional sessions judge A N Sirsikar found Ashish Manohar Surve guilty of house trespass and attempted murder charges, along with imposing a fine of Rs 2,000 on him.

The court’s order passed on September 13, became available on Saturday.

However, the court acquitted two other individuals, Vishnushankar Jagdip Tiwari and Jaideep Jaywant Chaudhari, giving them the benefit of the doubt. Additional public prosecutor Varsha Chandane informed the court that on September 25, 2014, the accused individuals entered the home of Umesh Warghat in Tikujini Wadi locality within the district, where they assaulted him with a knife, causing injuries.

Chandane argued that the accused harbored animosity against the victim, leading them to attempt his murder.
