Man Held For Appearing In Undergarments, Smoking, Drinking In Virtual Court Hearing

Delhi Police have arrested a 32-year-old man for repeatedly disrupting virtual court proceedings by appearing in his undergarments while smoking and drinking during videoconferencing sessions.

The accused, Md Imran, a resident of Gokulpuri and a history-sheeter with over 50 cases of robbery, snatching, and other offences across Delhi, was arrested following a detailed investigation.

Complaint From Tis Hazari Courts

A case was registered on September 22 after a complaint by Anshul Singhal, court record keeper at Tis Hazari Courts.

According to the complaint, on September 16 and 17, an unidentified man joined the court’s videoconferencing platform using the name Akib Akhlak. Despite repeated warnings to exit, he allegedly continued to appear in undergarments while smoking and consuming alcohol, disrupting ongoing proceedings.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Raja Banthia said technical analysis of IP addresses and call data records revealed that the suspect used multiple fake email IDs and frequently changed his location to avoid detection.

“Using local intelligence and manual searches, the team traced the accused to Chaman Park, Old Mustafabad, and arrested him from his residence,” a senior police officer said.
