Mathura POCSO Court Sentences Man To Death For Sexually Assaulting And Murdering Minor Boy

A POCSO court in Mathura on Monday sentenced a man to death for sexually assaulting and murdering a nine-year-old boy.
According to Special District Government Counsel (DGC) POCSO Court Alka Upmanya, “Special Judge POCSO court Ram Kishor Yadav, after hearing both the sides, awarded the death sentence to the accused Mohd Saif.”
The verdict was delivered by the judge in a record trial of 15 working days.
According to the prosecution, the father of the minor boy filed a FIR in Sadar Bazar Police Station on April 9 about his son’s disappearance from the Aurangabad area of Mathura.
The next day, police arrested Saif, a Kanpur resident now residing in Aurangabad, based on CCTV footage.
Saif worked in the shop owned by the deceased’s uncle. Interrogation revealed that the accused not only sexually assaulted the boy but also killed him, leaving the dead body about 500 metre away near a drain, after which the missing child’s FIR was converted into Sections 363, 302, 201, and 377 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) act. The court also imposed a Rs one lakh fine on the convict and stated that failure to pay it would result in simple imprisonment. She added that the parents of the deceased, who are the legal heirs, will receive 80% of the fine.
