Inter-Ministry, Bar & Bench Badminton Championship supported by the Ministry of Law and Justice in association with Fit India Movement was held on 17th and 18th September at Thyagaraj Sports Complex.
The event was attended by Union Minister of Law and Justice Shri Kiren Rijiju on 18th September. The Minister himself partic ipated in an exhibition match and encouraged everyone to take up sports. “Our Hon’ble Prime Minister is a sports enthusiast himself. Fit India also means Fit Judiciary and the it is important for the Judiciary to remain active in many forms. This year was a humble beginning for something new for the Judiciary.”
The event started with the lighting of the lamp ceremony at the inaugural function by legal luminaries Justice Vikram Nath, Mr. Vikas Singh, President of Supreme Court Bar Association, Dr. Anju Rathi Rana, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Law and Justice along with Mr. Singhi, MD and CEO of Dalmia Bharat Ltd and Ms. Abantika Deka, former International badminton player and a member of the National Anti-Doping Agency.
“Under the supervision of Hon’ble Minister of Law and Justice Shri Kiren Rijiju Ji, The Ministry has decided to heartily support all the participants of the Inter-Ministry, Bar & Bench Badminton Championship” said Dr. Anju Rathi Rana, Additional Secretary, Department of Legal Affairs.
At the closing of the event, the Minister felicitated all the winners with trophies.A first-of-its-kind event the Inter-Ministry, Bar & Bench Badminton had participation from the Ministry of Law and Justice, Ministry of External Affairs, Bar Council of India, Supreme Court Bar Association, Bar Council of Delhi, Delhi High Court Bar Association, National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) & Appellate Tribunal, Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, and Dalmia Bharat Limited.
