A special court in Mizoram’s Champhai has sentenced a 20-year rigorous imprisonment to a 30-year-old man for molesting a minor back in 2019.
Sylvie Zomuanpuii Ralte, the special judge of the POCSO court, found Vanhreluaia guilty and pronounced the sentence on Saturday. The court additionally imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the perpetrator; failing to pay this would lead to an extra two years of imprisonment.
Reportedly, in 2019, Vanhreluaia had molested a 5-year-old girl after taking her from her residence in an area of east Mizoram’s Champhai town.
