Mafia leader Mukhtar Ansari has been convicted by the MP-MLA court of Varanasi in the case of fraud in arms license. The court can announce the punishment on Wednesday. This case is related to a 36 year old fake gun license. Mukhtar Ansari had issued the license himself by forging the signatures of DM and SP. Mukhtar Ansari, who was lodged in Banda jail, participated in the court proceedings and stood watching the proceedings of the conviction.

The last hearing in the court of MP-MLA Court Judge Avnish Kumar Gautam was held on February 27 in which the arguments from both the sides were completed. The court had then decided to pronounce its verdict on March 12, but today the court declared Mukhtar guilty but postponed its decision on punishment to March 13.

In fact, on December 4, 1990, a case was registered against 5 named and unknown persons including Mukhtar Ansari, the then Deputy Collector, at Muhammadabad police station. Gaurishankar Srivastava died during the hearing and in this case, former Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan and former DGP Devraj Nagar had also recorded their statements.

After investigation, a charge sheet was filed in the court against the then Ordnance Clerk Gaurishankar Srivastava and Mukhtar Ansari. 10 people testified in this case. Mukhtar Ansari was accused of obtaining the license of a double barrel gun on the basis of fake documents on June 10, 1987.
