New Turn In Shraddha Murder Case: DHC Fixed March 7 For Hearing Arguments Against Aaftab

A new turn has came in Shraddha Murder Case while accused Aftab councilor MS Khan submitted before the Saket district court that he will withdraw his ‘vakalatnama’ if LAC appears instead of him in this case.

The Delhi Court has fixed March 7, Tuesday for hearing the arguments on the charges against Aaftab Amin Poonawala.

The Additional Sessions Judge Manisha Khurana Kakkar has fixed the hearing date on charges after Aaftab Poonawala, who was produced physically before the court.

Aaftab was produced physically in the court and interacted with his counsel. The Principal District & Sessions Judge Narottam Kaushal assigned the Shraddha murder case to ASJ Kakkar for further hearing in the matter.

Advocate Brijesh Oberoi also appeared as Legal Aid Counsel (LAC) for Aaftab. On the other hand, Advocate MS Khan submitted before the court that he is the counsel for the accused. A LAC can’t be appointed when there is a private counsel engaged. Aftab hasn’t expressed his desire to have a LAC.

Earlier on February 21, a magisterial court had committed the case to sessions court where cases of heinous offenses like murder are tried.

On February 7, the court had taken cognizance of the 6,629-page chargesheet filed by the police on January 24 against Aftab Amin Poonawala in the Shraddha Walkar murder case.

The judge stated that it is voluminous.

The charge sheet has been filed under sections 302, 201, and other sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The Delhi police filed the chargesheet before the expiry of 90 days after the investigation. During the investigation, Delhi police conducted the Narco Analysis test, and polygraph test and collected the DNA evidence to establish the allegations against Aftab.

Earlier, the court dismissed the bail plea of Aftab Poonawala after he withdrew the same.
