The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids on Tuesday at the residence of Konath Muralitharan, also known as Ajith or Murali Kannambali, in Kerala’s Ernakulam district.
Muralitharan, an ex-Central Committee member of the banned CPI (Maoist) and a close aide of Naxal leader Sanjay Deepak Rao, was targeted as part of an ongoing investigation.
During the raids, the NIA seized several incriminating digital devices and documents. The investigation is linked to a case registered earlier this year, which involves a conspiracy by members of the outlawed Naxal group to wage war against the Indian government. The agency believes the accused were involved in raising funds and recruiting members to further the Naxal cause.
The NIA stated that investigations in the case are still ongoing.
