No Coercive Action Will Be Taken Against Sameer Wankhede Till May 22: CBI To Delhi HC

The CBI has recently given an oral assurance to the Delhi High Court that it will not take any violent action against the former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) zonal director Sameer Wankhede till Monday in the Aryan Khan bribery case.

CBI’s counsel Nikhil Goel assured the Court that Wankhede can write an e-mail to the agency and will get the response that he can come on Monday.

Goel requested the Court not to record the assurance in its order but said that the Investigating Officer is also present in court, therefore, no coercive measures will be taken till Monday.

Therefore, the affirmation came after when Wankhede filed a plea in the Delhi High Court seeking registration of a cross-FIR against Gnaneshwar Singh (Deputy DG of NCB).

He also demanded that no coercive action should be taken against him.

As Justice Vikas Mahajan took up the matter, and a preliminary objection was raised regarding jurisdiction. Also, Goel told the Court that even though CBI registered the case in Delhi, everything has been forwarded to Mumbai, and therefore, Wankhede should have approached the Bombay High Court.

After that, Wankhede’s counsel withdrew the plea.

Also, the CBI filed an FIR against Wankhede and others for allegedly demanding a bribe of ₹25 crore from actor Shah Rukh Khan in exchange for not framing his son Aryan Khan in the 2021 Cordelia cruise ship drugs case.

Aryan Khan was one of the 20 people who got arrested in a raid on the cruise ship in Mumbai in October 2021.

According to the reports, CBI stated that there was a conspiracy to extort ₹25 crore from Shah Rukh Khan’s family but it was finally settled at ₹18 crore.
