‘No Felicitation Program For Outgoing Justice Dinesh Singh,’ Says ABA

The Awadh Bar Association (ABA) of the Allahabad High Court has recently decided that it will not organize a farewell ceremony for the outgoing Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh, who is recently transferred to the High Court of Kerala.

On 16th July, the ABA called for an emergency meeting led by its President Anand Mani Tripathi and supervised by General Secretary Manoj Kumar Mishra to talked about the possibility of organizing a farewell ceremony as per the traditional practice on Judges transfer.

The office bearers and executive members of the Bar Association, nonetheless, voiced the opinion that Justice Singh’s treatment of lawyers has been disrespectful during his time as a judge.

The members also pointed out specific instances where offensive language was employed by Justice Singh, which has damaged the reputation of the Awadh Bar Association.

Moreover, the resolution stated that should a full bench meeting be convened by the High Court in honor of Justice DK Singh, the members of the Bar Association will also boycott the event.

In this regard the resolution stated, “The executive unanimously decides that the Awadh Bar Association will not organize a felicitation ceremony for Honorable Justice Mr. DK Singh And by the Honorable High Court if the full bench meeting is organized in honor of Honorable Justice Shri DK Singh then the members of Avadh Bar Association will not attend the full bench meeting protesting against it.”

On July 12, the Supreme Court Collegium recommended the transfer of Justice Singh to the Kerala High Court. During this process, the Collegium turned down his request to either remain at his parent High Court or be transferred to a neighboring State of his preference.
