No Phones Allowed: Surat Court Bans Staff Mobile Use During Work Hours

The District and Sessions Judge of Surat Court has imposed a complete ban on mobile phone use by court staff during working hours. According to a circular issued on May 15, employees must surrender their phones to the court registrar or their department heads.

This directive follows a previous warning from the High Court against mobile phone use during office hours, which was found to be disrupting court proceedings and affecting work quality.

Exemptions are allowed for office work and special circumstances, but some employees continued to use their phones inappropriately. To enforce this ban, the responsibility has been placed on court registrars and branch heads. Presiding officers are also instructed to ensure that staff strictly comply with the new directive.
