Delhi’s Patiala House Court on Thursday dismissed the bail application of Neelam Azad, an accused in the Parliament security breach case.
Additional Sessions Judge Hardeep Kaur, citing the inappropriateness of granting relief at this stage, denied bail to Azad.
On 13th January, the court had sent all the accused, including Azad, Manoranjan D, Sagar Sharma, Lalit Jha, Amol Shinde, and Mahesh Kumawat to judicial custody following their appearance after the expiration of their police remand.
During a significant security breach on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack, Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery during Zero Hour. They released yellow gas from canisters, shouted slogans, and were subsequently subdued by some MPs. Simultaneously, Amol Shinde and Azad, two other accused, sprayed colored gas from canisters while shouting “tanashahi nahi chalegi” outside the Parliament premises.
The arrest of the four individuals occurred at the scene, while Lalit Jha and Mahesh Kumawat were later apprehended for their alleged involvement in the incident. The court’s decision to deny bail to Neelam Azad was based on the current stage of proceedings.
