Parliament Security Breach: Delhi Police Moves Court Seeking Extension to Complete Probe

The Delhi Police approached Patiala House Court on Thursday, seeking an extension of time to complete its investigation in the Parliament security breach case, citing pending reports and the extensive volume of digital data. Requesting Additional Sessions Judge Hardeep Kaur, the city police sought an additional three months to conclude the investigation.

The judge issued a notice to incarcerated individuals Neelam Azad, Manoranjan D, Sagar Sharma, Lalit Jha, Amol Shinde, and Mahesh Kumawat regarding the application, soliciting their responses by March 11, 2024.

In a significant security breach on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack, two individuals-Sharma and Manoranjan D entered the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery during the Zero Hour on December 13 last year. They released a yellow gas from canisters, shouted slogans, before being subdued by MPs. Simultaneously, two other accused-Shinde and Azad discharged colored gas from canisters while shouting “tanashahi nahi chalegi” (dictatorship will not prevail) outside the Parliament premises.
