Pratapgarh Court has sentenced two men to 25 years of imprisonment for raping a minor girl in 2021.
Additional Sessions Judge (POCSO) Alok Dwivedi convicted the two individuals namely Ajay Verma and Karm Singh.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 35,000 each on the two, as confirmed by additional district government counsel Pradeep Kumar Pandey.
The father of the 15-year-old rape survivor filed an FIR against the two on July 23, 2021, at Kandhai police station. According to the FIR, Ajay Verma took the girl to Surat in Gujarat and subjected her to repeated rape over a six-month period. The girl subsequently became pregnant, leading to the filing of the case.
Both Ajay Verma and Karm Singh were charged under IPC Section 376 (rape) and the POCSO Act.
