Maninderjit Singh Bedi
Advocate Maninderjit Singh Bedi officially assumed charge as the Advocate General of Punjab at the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
His appointment follows the resignation of Advocate Gurminder Singh, who held the position earlier.
Before this new role, Bedi served as the Additional Advocate General of Punjab, showcasing his extensive legal expertise. A law graduate from Punjabi University, Patiala, he has had a distinguished career in public service, including his tenure as the Administrator General and Official Trustee of the Government of Punjab.
The appointment was confirmed in an official statement by the Information and Public Relations Department, Punjab, highlighting Bedi’s significant contributions to the legal field and his commitment to public service.
Upon taking charge, Bedi expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for entrusting him with this crucial responsibility. He pledged to serve the position with unwavering dedication, emphasizing that his priority would be to effectively represent Punjab’s interests in all legal matters.
“I am grateful to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for this opportunity. I will work diligently to protect Punjab’s rights and interests,” Bedi stated.
With Bedi’s appointment, he becomes the 4th Advocate General of Punjab in just three years under the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. This reflects the dynamic and evolving nature of political and legal appointments in the state.
Bedi’s tenure is expected to bring stability and a renewed focus on legal reforms, especially as Punjab navigates complex legal challenges in areas such as governance, law enforcement, and constitutional matters.
