Rape Case: Pastor Jashan Gill Surrenders In Gurdaspur Court

Self-proclaimed pastor Jashan Gill, accused in a shocking case involving the rape of a 22-year-old woman and her subsequent death following a forced abortion, surrendered before a Gurdaspur court on Wednesday.

The police have secured a five-day custody of the accused for further interrogation.

Allegations of Sexual Assault & Forced Abortion

According to the complaint, the young woman—a Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) student—was allegedly sexually assaulted multiple times by Gill, who had been known to her family through their church in Abul Khair village, Gurdaspur district.

Her father, who spoke to the media under the condition of anonymity, claimed that Gill exploited the family’s trust and coerced his daughter into a relationship.

“We used to attend prayers regularly. He manipulated and raped my daughter multiple times,” the father alleged. “When she became pregnant, he forced her to undergo an abortion at a clinic in Khokhar village.”

Alleged Medical Negligence & Death

The woman’s condition deteriorated following the abortion, which the family claims was performed under unsafe conditions by a nurse.

“She began suffering severe stomach pain and was admitted to a hospital. An ultrasound later confirmed that she had undergone an abortion. We shifted her to Amritsar for treatment, but she died during medical care,” the grieving father said.

He further alleged that medical negligence during the abortion procedure led to fatal complications, including infection.

Family Seeks CBI Probe

The father, demanding justice, revealed that he has been receiving threats and now fears for his and his family’s safety. He has reportedly approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court, seeking a CBI investigation into the case.

“I was forced to leave my village because of repeated threats. The Punjab Police have done nothing. I’ve moved the High Court demanding a CBI probe,” he stated.

Previous Conviction

This case has emerged just days after another self-styled Christian pastor, Bajinder Singh, was sentenced to life imprisonment by a Mohali court on April 1 in a 2018 sexual assault case. The complaint against him involved allegations of assault following a prayer session.

The back-to-back incidents have raised fresh concerns over accountability and the regulation of religious figures operating outside formal institutions.
