Dera Sachcha Sauda Chief Ram Rahim Released on parole, reaches ashram, Cuts Cake with Sword

Gurmeet Ram Rahim the Chief of Dera Sacha Sauda, on Monday, was seen celebrating and cutting a cake with a sword while on parole. A video of Ram with the giant cake has gone popular on social media.

The Sirsa-Dera Chief, Ram Rahim, who was given a 20-year prison sentence for raping two women followers, walked out of the Sunaria prison in Rohtak, Haryana, on Saturday after receiving a 40-day parole and arrived to Barnawa Ashram in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh.

The Dera Chief is heard stating in the alleged footage that has appeared on social media, “I should cut at least five cakes since I finally had this opportunity to celebrate like this after five years. This is the first cake.”

Ram Rahim stated in his bail application that he plans to attend an event on January 25 to mark the birth anniversary of former Dera Chief Shah Satnam Singh.

Ram Rahim virtually inaugurated a massive cleanup campaign on Monday that had been planned by volunteers of his sect in several locations around Haryana and other states. Several top BJP members from Haryana, including former minister Krishan Kumar Bedi and Rajya Sabha MP Krishan Lal Panwar, attended the ceremony.

Ram Rahim has now received parole twice in less than three months and four times in the past 14 months. Prior to the Haryana panchayat election and the Adampur Assembly byelection in October 2022, he was granted a parole release for 40 days.

In August 2017, a special CBI court in Panchkula found him guilty of raping two women followers. According to the High Court of Punjab and Haryana’s 2003 orders, the CBI had opened an inquiry into the case that had previously been registered at Police Station Sadar in Kurukshetra.

Following a thorough investigation, the CBI filed a charge sheet against six accused in 2007, and charges were framed in 2008. The court convicted Rahim and four others in connection with the murder of former Dera manager Ranjit Singh on October 8, 2021. Ranjit Singh, a resident of village Khanpur Kolian, Kurukshetra, was allegedly murdered on July 10, 2002, while working in his fields in village Khanpur Kolian, District Kurukshetra, Haryana.
