Sachin Tendulkar Files Complaint Against Advt For Using His Name, Picture and Voice ‘Unauthorizedly’

Sachin Tendulkar, the legendary former cricketer, recently filed a complaint with Mumbai Police against the “unauthorised” use of his name, photo, and voice in “misleading advertisements”.

The Mumbai Police Cyber Cell has filed a complaint against an unidentified person under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 426, 465, and 500.

Sachin alleged in his complaint that the advertisements were utilised unauthorizedly to mislead individuals into purchasing products and services online.
Earlier, Sachin released a statement through the Sachin Tendulkar Foundation’s Management Teams.

The statement read, “We have observed attempts to unauthorizedly impersonate Sachin Tendulkar’s attributes in order to sell products and services unrelated to him. This is done with the deliberate and malicious intent of misleading gullible citizens into purchasing unauthorised products and services online.”

“We have lodged an official complaint with the Cyber Cell department and have highlighted these on social media platforms where such misleading advertisements are being broadcast,” the statement further read.

Sharing the statement, Sachin wrote, “Access to trustworthy products is essential. Use the platform’s reporting and blocking tools to keep our communities safe. Let’s be proactive in creating a safer online environment.”

An investigation into the matter is now underway.
