Sanatan Dharma Remark: Bengaluru Court Grants Bail to Udhayanidhi Stalin

Sanatan Dharma Remark

A Bengaluru Court granted bail to Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Tuesday for his remark about ‘eradicating Sanatana Dharma’.

The DMK leader appeared before the 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in response to a notice issued based on a petition by social activist Paramesh regarding his statement.

Udhayanidhi Stalin, who oversees the sports and youth affairs portfolio, secured bail with a surety of Rs one lakh. The case has been scheduled for August 8, 2024.

Udhayanidhi, son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and ruling DMK chief M K Stalin, had made the controversial statement at a conference in Chennai in September 2023, stating that Sanatana Dharma was opposed to social justice and equality and should be ‘eradicated’ similar to malaria and dengue. The statement sparked widespread condemnation from various quarters.
