Sandeshkhali Case: Court Remands BJP Worker to Judicial Custody

Sandeshkhali Case

In North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, a court has remanded Piyali Das, a female BJP worker, in judicial custody following her surrender in connection with a criminal case filed against her.

Allegedly, Das obtained the signature of a woman from Sandeshkhali on a blank sheet of paper, which was subsequently filled with complaints of sexual assault against TMC leaders.

The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Basirhat sub-divisional court denied Das’s bail plea and ordered her to be held in judicial custody for eight days.

The woman lodged a complaint against Das at the Sandeshkhali police station, asserting that Das had induced her to sign a blank paper, after which accusations of sexual misconduct against her were inscribed upon it.
