SC Agrees To Hear Punjab Govt. Plea Challenging Guv’s Refusal To Convene Budget Session

The Supreme Court today agreed to hear the Punjab government’s plea challenging the governor to grant permission to the government for summoning the budget session.

Appearing for Punjab Government the Senior Advocate Manu Singhvi mentioned the plea seeking an urgent hearing before the bench led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud.

The Punjab Government approached the Supreme Court seeking to call a budget session to be scheduled in the State legislature. Therefore, the petition has been filed through Advocate Shadan Farasat.
Punjab Governor refused to call the budget session of the Punjab legislature which is scheduled to be held on March 3rd.
