The Supreme Court on Monday issues notice to enforcement directorate on the bail application filed by suspended Jharkhand IAS officer Pooja Singhal in money laundering case.
Supreme Court Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Abhay S. Oka’s bench posted this matter for January 2nd for further hearing.
Pooja Singhal was arrested by the ED on May 11 this year in the MNREGA scam case in Jharkhand’s Khunti.
ED’s has recovered about Rs 19 crore in his associate CA Suman Kumar.
Earlier the Jharkhand High Court had rejected the bail petition filed by Pooja Singhal.
The High Court has said in its order that there is no basis for granting bail to an IAS officer involved in corruption, hence the bail application of Pooja Singhal is rejected. Pooja Singhal has challenged the decision of the Jharkhand High Court in the Supreme Court.
Singhal was taken into custody on May 11 earlier this year after the raids, which were conducted by the ED in 25 different locations across the state and the country linked to the IAS officer.
