Manish Kashyap Case: SC Says We Will Issue Notice On Quashing Of Prosecution, Next Hearing On May 1

The State of Tamil Nadu stated the Supreme Court today that Youtuber Manish Kashyap, accused of sharing fake news about migrant workers, facilitated the fabrication of videos and utilized them to perpetrate communal hatred. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justice PS Narasimha seeks a response as to why the National Security Act (NSA) has been invoked against Manish Kashyap. The Tamil Nadu Govt filed an affidavit also regarding the Supreme Court’s order.

Furthermore, it was stated that when he visited Tamil Nadu, he then put rhetorical questions to migrants only to spread discord and a clear view to perpetuate hatred.

Earlier this month, the apex court sought responses from the Central government and the States of Bihar & Tamil Nadu on the plea.

Earlier, the apex court allowed Kashyap for amending his plea to challenge the invocation of the NSA and indicated its inclination to transfer all the cases to Bihar.

The Court said that “We will issue notice on quashing of prosecution…but we will transfer all the case to Bihar.”

Further, the Court directed that Kashyap will remain in Madurai Central Jail until the next hearing on May 1st.
