A special court in Bengaluru has remanded former Janata Dal (Secular) MP Prajwal Revanna, who is accused of rape and sexual abuse against multiple women, to 14 days of judicial custody.

Revanna was produced before the 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court as his custody with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) concluded on June 10, 2024.

Prajwal Revanna, accused in the obscene video case, was arrested from the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru upon his return to the country on May 31.

On the same day, the court remanded him to SIT custody until June 6, which was later extended until June 10, 2024.

On June 1, the SIT team convened at the Holenarasipura residence of Bhavani Revanna, the mother of suspended JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna, for questioning.

Allegations Against Bhavani Revanna

Bhavani stands accused in a kidnapping case filed under IPC sections 64(A), 365, 109, 120(B).

Her spouse, HD Revanna, had been previously apprehended in connection with the kidnapping case on April 29 and was granted conditional bail by a special court designated for people’s representatives.

The incident, lodged on April 28 at the Holenarasipura town police station, revolves around allegations of sexual assault perpetrated by Revanna and his son, Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, against their household aide.

Prajwal Revanna’s Return and Ongoing Investigations

Prajwal Revanna returned to India from Germany approximately a month subsequent to his departure from the country, purportedly on the evening of April 26, subsequent to the surfacing of several explicit videos allegedly involving him on social media platforms.

The former JD(S) MP is under investigation by the SIT concerning allegations of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation following a complaint by a woman who was employed as a domestic aide at his residence.
