A special Bengaluru court on Tuesday remanded former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, who is facing charges of rape and sexual abuse, to judicial custody till June 24, 2024.
Earlier, on June 12, the 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court had placed him in the custody of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the cases against him, until June 18.
Prajwal Revanna was arrested by SIT officials shortly after his arrival at Bengaluru airport from Germany on May 31. He had departed for Germany on April 27, the day after the polls in Hassan.
Earlier, the Interpol had issued a ‘Blue Corner Notice‘ seeking information on his location, at the request of the SIT through the Central Bureau of Investigation.
Revanna was arrested in Holenarasipura, Hassan district, on April 28, in connection with a case filed against him. He is accused of sexually harassing a 47-year-old former maid and has been implicated in three cases of sexual assault, including charges of rape.
The allegations of sexual abuse surfaced when pen-drives containing explicit videos purportedly involving Revanna were circulated in Hassan before the Lok Sabha elections on April 26. The JD(S) suspended him from the party following the filing of these cases.
