Shahdol: Court Awarded Life Imprisonment to Wife who Killed and Buried Husband in Garden

The Sessions Judge of District Court, Shahdol of Madhya Pradesh, VP Singh has awarded life imprisonment to a woman who killed her husband and buried his body in the garden.

The court held Gond resident Durga Bai guilty of murdering her husband and sentenced her to life imprisonment. This incidend was happened in 2019..

Lakhan Singh, the husband of convicted Durga Bai, was addicted to alcohol. Due to this, there used to be frequent fight between the two. Lakhan Singh used to beat Durga even after drinking alcohol. Even on the day of the incident, Lakhan, under the influence of alcohol, quarreled with Durga and started beating her. Enraged by this, Durga hit her husband’s head with a stick, after which Lakhan Singh fell down and blood started oozing from his head.

Even after this, when Durga’s anger did not subside, Durga killed her husband Lakhan by strangling him. Then dragged the dead body to the garden of the house and buried it.

When the festival of Raksha Bandhan came 15 days after the murder, Phoolbai Singh, the sister of the deceased Lakhan, came to tie Rakhi to her brother. When Lakhan Singh was not found, he asked his sister-in-law Durga Bai, she said that she had killed Lakhan and buried his body in the garden behind the house.

After which Lakhan’s sister Phoolbai Singh informed about the incident in police station Kotwali Shahdol. The dead body was removed by the police on the instructions of Durga Bai. After investigation Durga Bai was arrested, charge sheet was filed in the court.
