Shraddha Murder Case: CDFD Report Confirms Strong Evidence to Prosecute Aftab, Says Police

The Delhi Police said that samples of hair and bones recovered from different areas of Delhi have matched with the DNA of Shraddha’s father. Delhi Police officials told to media on Wednesday, January 4, that there is no confusion after the DNA report received. Now the police have strong evidence to prosecute the accused Aftab Amin Poonawalla.

Police stated that the bones and hair were recovered during searches from forest areas of Delhi NCR including Gurgaon & Mehrauli were sent to the Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) Hyderabad for ‘DNA Mitochondrial profiling’. Said the Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Sagar Preet Hooda.

Special CP Sagar Preet Hooda said, we received the result of the examination. One piece of bone and bunch of hair purported to be of deceased have matched with her father and brother’s DNA which establishes the identity of the bone and hair to be that of Shraddha Walkar. The bones will now be sent for autopsy which will be conducted by a medical board at the AIIMS, he added.

The grisly details about Shraddha’s murder shook the entire nation after the Delhi Police on November 12. And arrested Aftab Ameen Poonawala who is currently in judicial custody.

After allegedly strangling Shraddha Walkar on May 18, Poonawala cut down her body into 35 pieces and even kept them in a 300-litre fridge for a time period of almost three weeks at his residence before dumping them across the city over several days.
