SIMI Ban: Organizations Seeking To Establish Islamic Rule Existence Can’t Be Allowed In India

Unlawful Activities Prevention Act

The Supreme Court on Wednesday adjourned the hearing on a plea filed by a former SIMI member challenging the 2019 ban order of a tribunal constituted under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

During the hearing on the petition filed against the ban on the Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), the petitioner on Wednesday sought time from the Top court to file a reply to the Central Government’s affidavit. The petitioner said in the court that the Central Government has filed the affidavit on Tuesday, so they should be given some time to reply. On which the court has given time to the petitioner to file the reply.

The Central government on Tuesday filed an affidavit in top court and justified the eighth successive ban on the Students’ Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).

Any organization that has the objective of establishing Islamic rule in India cannot be permitted to exist, Center said

The center govt further said that SIMI is against Indian nationalism, and works to replace it with an international Islamic order. Their stated objectives are contrary to the laws of our country, it added

There are more three dozen other front organizations through which SIMI is being continued. These front organizations help SIMI in various activities including collection of funds, circulation of literature, regrouping of cadres, etc,the center said

SIMI continues to indulge in unlawful activities causing a serious threat to the internal security of the country, it added.
