Supreme Court Collegium Recommended Elevation Of Justice Sabina As Chief Justice Of Himachal Pradesh High Court

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of Justice Sabina as the Chief Justice of High Court Of Himachal Pradesh Justice Sabina is currently the Acting Chief Justice there. Justice Sabina in 12.03.2008 was being appointed as a judge of Punjab and Haryana High and she is being due to retire on 19.04.2023. The Supreme Court Collegium in its resolution stated that the said collegium has, by its separate resolution, proposed the appointment of Mr. Justice Jaswant Singh, who being the seniormost puisne Judge of the High Court of Punjab and Haryana, as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Tripura.

Mr. Justice Jaswant Singh is also being due to retire on 22.02.2023. Therefore, the collegium has already proposed Mr. Justice Rajesh Bindal, the first being in the order of seniority among the judges from the High Court of Punjab and Haryana (who is presently Chief Justice of the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad) for the appointment as the Judge of Supreme Court. It has been added by the Collegium in this backdrop, with regards to the seniority of Justice Sabina, it is resolves for recommending that she be appointed as Chief Justice of the High Court of Himachal Pradesh “as she is fit and is suitable in all respects for the same. The Collegium in its resolution stated that Ms. Justice Sabina shall have a tenure of about two months before she retires as Chief Justice on 19.04.2023
