Supreme Court: Extended Interim Bail To Congress Spokesperson Pawan Khera Till March 3; FIR Over Comment Against PM

The Supreme Court in the case Pawan Khera v. State of Assam And Ors observed and has extended the interim bail granted to Congress Spokesperson Pawan Khera who was being arrested by the Assam police from Delhi airport over the comment made by him about Prime Minister Narendra Modi till 03.03.2023.
The bench comprising of CJI DY Chandrachud, Justice PS Narasimha, and Justice JB Pardiwala was hearing the matter.
Therefore, the court allowed him interim bail had been granted till 28.02.2023 on 23.02.2023
The offences under Section 153A, 153B, 295A, 505 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 have been invoked against Khera.
The court also granted him interim relief and has ordered that Khera should be released on interim bail on production before the jurisdictional Magistrate at Delhi till the next date of hearing which being on February 28. However, the court in order to protect the petitioner until such date as he applies for regular bail before the jurisdictional court, till the next date of listing, the plea stated should be released on bail by the Magistrate at Delhi where he is to produce this evening for transit remand.
In the said case, the court issued the notice to the States of UP and Assam, which have registered FIRs against him, on the writ petition filed by Khera seeking consolidation of the FIR. Thus, the court also recorded the undertaking which is given by Khera’s lawyer Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi that he will tender unconditional apology for the said statement.
