Supreme Court notifies key changes to ensure timely listing of new cases in keeping with CJI Lalit’s reform push

The newly sworn-in Chief Justice of India UU Lalit, in light of the promise made, the Supreme Court of India has notified important changes to the listing of fresh cases and to ensure that the listing is done in a timely manner.

On August 29, by way of the circular issued, the Top Court has directed that all fresh matters verified on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday will be listed on Monday in the next week. Therefore, those matters verified on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be listed on Friday in the next week.

Furthermore, all the fresh matters verified on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday will be listed on Monday in the next week and those verified on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be listed on Friday in the next week.

Further, the circular informs that if the number of matters earmarked for Monday or Friday are in excess, the matters will be listed on coming Friday or Monday respectively. enceforth, it has been stated that the cause list of miscellaneous matters for Monday shall be published by Thursday (Morning) of the previous weeks and for Friday and by Monday the same will be published in the Supreme Court website.

The Changes brought will ensure a definite time line for the posting of newly filed cases.
