The Supreme court will hear tech giant Google’s plea challenging Competition Commission of India’s decision to impose Rs 1,338 crore penalty finding its practices relating to Android mobile devices unfair and anti-competitive.
Google seeks stay of an interim order of NCLAT, which asked it to deposit 10% of penalty amount by January 19 and refusing to stay CCI penalty.
Eariler Appearing for Google senior advocate A M Singhvi said that the penlty was levied without any evidence and through a tainted investigation. NCLAT posted the hearing of the Google’s appeal in April, which would make Google’s plea against CCI penalty infructuous, he added.
