SURROGACY: NEED TO CHANGE THE PERSPECTIVE

This blue planet, often known as EARTH, comprises both living and nonliving organisms. Both of them have their own set of distinguishing qualities and shared characteristics. The ability to reproduce life is the primary distinguishing feature between the former and the latter, with the former having this ability while the latter does not. Living beings have the ability to produce new life that is distinct from their own through the act of reproduction. These living beings are further subdivided into many varieties of all; the human being, however, is the most superior of all of them. Based on biological differences, humans are further categorized into groups. Women are the ones who have been endowed by nature with the beautiful capacity to carry and nurture a child in her womb. Unfortunately, many women desire to have a child but are unable to do so for a variety of reasons ranging from biological to a variety of other factors. Although biological factors do not necessarily imply that they are incapable of creating viable eggs or experiencing fertility problems, there may be instances in which they are unable to carry the baby for the duration of the pregnancy due to medical difficulties. Other options include same-sex couples and single parents who cannot conceive children through natural means. Is this, however, a sign that these couples will be unable to conceive biological children in the future?

The term “surrogate” is derived from the Latin word “SURROGATUS,” which literally translates as “a substitute” or “someone designated to execute in place of the other.” Whereas Surrogacy is a term that literally translates as “substitution” or “replacement.” Black’s Law Dictionary defines surrogacy as “the act of bearing and delivering an infant for the benefit of another person or family.” It is possible that delving deeper into technical definitions will cause confusion. A woman consenting to become pregnant with the goal of giving the child born of that pregnancy to another person or couple with the idea of that person or couple parenting the child is known as surrogacy in layman’s terms. Putting it another way, it is a technique in which a spouse who is unable to bear children on his or her own enlists the assistance of another woman to carry their child in the womb for them. Infertility and other factors have made it difficult for both men and women to conceive a child. For any couple, having a child and being a parent is one of the most fortunate events that may occur in their lives. Surrogate mothers help those bereaved couples realize their goals of becoming parents. Having the support of a professionally verified surrogate mother can aid in delivering a child into this world and assisting couples and people in establishing the family of their desires. Surrogacy and surrogate moms play an essential role in this process. The importance of clearly understanding some often-used words, such as Surrogate Mother and Intended Parents, cannot be overstated before going into the subject. A surrogate mother (also known as a substitute mother or a tentative mother) is a woman who becomes pregnant through artificial insemination, or the implantation of a fertilized egg created through in vitro fertilization in order to carry the fetus to term for the benefit of the Intended Parents. Surrogate mothers are women who become pregnant for the purpose of carrying the fetus to term for the benefit of the Intended Parents.

To put it another way, surrogate mothers are nothing more than SERAPH for their intended parents. As a result, it becomes increasingly important to determine exactly who the Intended Parents are showered with blessings from Seraph. Intended parents are often defined as couples who have tried for years to have a biological child, whether through traditional methods or through the use of in Vitro fertilization (IVF). They are so committed to having children that they are willing to go to any length to attain their objective, which may include going through the surrogacy process. Intended parents can be any couple or single person; there is no such thing as a “QUINTESSENTIAL” intended parent in the traditional sense. Single men who want to start a family, single women who are unable to bring a child into the world due to infertility or health issues, male couples of the same sex, female spouses who are unable to have children on their own, heterosexual couples who are having fertility problems and carrying a child, and so on. The fact that they are having a biological child is not only their final hope, but it is also their last opportunity to be involved in the reproductive process and know that a child will be theirs following a successful delivery. In layman’s terms, Intended Parents are the people who will be in charge of the child once the Surrogate Mother gives birth to the child.

Surrogate mothers are often required to carry a child on another woman’s behalf for a variety of reasons. These can include financial or emotional reasons, among others (more detail has been discussed later in the chapter). This entire procedure has unfortunately been labelled by our society with various titles, such as BABY FACTORY, BABY SELLING, and RENTAL WOMB, among others. Consider the following: don’t you believe that these kinds of phrases are derogatory in their approach? Isn’t it true that they exemplify the true conservative mentality of our contemporary society? Don’t you believe that this entire procedure deserves a more appropriate moniker that is more respectful? Is it unethical to put a grin on the faces of parents whose marriage would be incomplete if they didn’t have a child of their own?

Due to increased globalization and advancements in artificial reproductive procedures and technologies, infertile couples (all Intended Parents as discussed above) worldwide now have a plethora of new options available to them. The introduction of IVF (In vitro fertilization) is one of them. These couples generally have their first try on this treatment; a successful result is in itself a miracle, but if they are unsuccessful, they are left with a decision to make, i.e., either they can adopt a child or go for a biological one with the help of Surrogate Mother. It is essential to understand that not all intended parents opt for the IVF process before reaching Surrogate Mothers for help and a final solution for their problem. Single parents and same-sex couples are more likely than not to choose Surrogacy right immediately if they so choose to have a biological offspring of their own.

This entire process provides these intended parents with the opportunity to realize their dream of having a biological child, and whatever psychological, social, emotional, and financial difficulties they may have encountered along the way to making this decision, it will all be worth it when they are able to hold their own child in their arms for the first time.
