Delhi’s Tis Hazari court has taken cognizance of the charge sheet filed against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s aide Bibhav Kumar.

On July 16, the Delhi Police submitted the charge sheet in the Swati Maliwal assault case to the Tis Hazari Court.

Judicial Magistrate First Class Gaurav Goyal acknowledged the charge sheet, and a copy has been provided to the accused.

The matter is now listed for the scrutiny of documents, with the next hearing scheduled for August 24.

Appearing for the Delhi Police, Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) Atul Srivastava informed the court that the police have invoked Sections 308, 354, 354 B, 506, 509, and 341 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), with Section 201 also being added to the charge sheet.

As evidence, the police have included Bibhav Kumar’s mobile phone, SIM card, and DVR/NVR of the CCTV camera installed at the Chief Minister’s residence. The charge sheet comprises 500 pages. According to the Delhi Police, 100 people were examined, and 50 were made witnesses.

The court has directed the jail authorities to produce the accused via video conferencing on the next date. His bail plea has already been dismissed by the trial court, and another bail application was recently rejected by the High Court.

Bibhav Kumar is currently in judicial custody, having been arrested on May 18 following a complaint by AAP MP Swati Maliwal. The alleged incident occurred on the morning of May 13 at the Delhi Chief Minister’s residence.
