The Ujjain Mahakaleshwar temple priests has recently sent a legal notice to the filmmakers of the controversial movie ‘Oh My God-2’ starring Akshay Kumar.
Additionally, a complaint has been lodged with the district collector, asserting that the film should not be exhibited in Ujjain.
Mahesh Sharma, a priest of the Mahakal Temple, has expressed that the film portrays an erroneous depiction of Lord Shiva, showcasing him in an inappropriate manner, wherein He is shown purchasing snacks from a market stall. This portrayal causes distress to the devotees of Lord Shiva.
Priest Mahesh has conveyed that presenting the deity in any form is not advisable. The film creators must be mindful that such representations could hurt the sentiments of those who hold faith in the religion.
A legal notice has been sent to the film director Amit Rai, the producer Vipul Shah, Chandraprakash Dwivedi, actor Akshay Kumar, and also to the chairman of the censor board, Prasoon Joshi.
The notice asserts that objectionable scenes should be removed within 24 hours of receipt of the letter. A public apology is expected. If this is not done, an appeal will be made to revoke the film’s certification.
Notably, Akshay Kumar was initially slated to portray the role of Lord Shiva in the film, but after changes, he will be depicted as an emissary of Shiva instead.
