Terror Funding Case: NIA Raids Several Locations In Kashmir’s Pulwana & Shopian Districts

The National probe Agency (NIA) recently conducted raids in Pulwama and Shopian in South Kashmir as part of its probe into a terror funding case.

The case concerns terror funding and criminal conspiracy devised by terror groups operating under several pseudo names at the behest of their Pakistani commanders or handlers.

The investigation agency raided the homes of Abdul Khaliq Regoo in Kansipora, Javid Ahmad Dhobi in Syed Kareem, and Shoaib Ahmad Choor in Sangri Colony in Baramulla district on May 11 in connection with a terror conspiracy case.

The NIA action came just weeks after a devastating terror incident in Poonch that killed the lives of five soldiers. Five Army personnel were killed days after the Poonch incident when militants besieged by troops caused an explosive in a highly forested area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district. The explosion generated by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) also injured a cop.

Previously, the NIA had attached three accused persons’ assets in Kashmir under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) in response to court orders.

The NIA has conducted searches in Jammu and Kashmir to target new terror organisations such as The Resistance Front (TRF), United Liberation Front Jammu and Kashmir (UL J&K), Mujahideen Gazwat-ul-Hind (MGH), Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Fighters (JKFF), Kashmir Tigers, PAAF, and others.

These terror organisations have come to light following the abolition of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status on August 5, 2019.

These groups have claimed responsibility for the majority of militant strikes in the last three years, particularly in Jammu’s Pir Panjal area.

“Investigations have further revealed that Pak-based operatives were using drones to deliver weapons, bombs, drugs, etc. to their operatives and cadres in the Kashmir valley,” the agency stated in a statement.

This month alone, the central agency’s sleuths, aided by police and paramilitary personnel, conducted searches in Srinagar, Baramulla, Shopian, Kulgam, Anantnag, and Budgam districts of Kashmir, as well as Poonch, Rajouri, and Kishtwar districts of Jammu.
