A special POCSO court in Maharashtra Thane’s district has sentenced a 44-year-old man to five years of imprisonment for repeatedly outraging the modesty of his 15-year-old daughter.
V V Virkar, Special Judge for cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act also imposed a fine of Rs 7,000 on the accused (name not disclosed to protect the girl’s identity).
Special Judge V V Virkar, presiding over cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, also levied a fine of Rs 7,000 on the accused individual.
Special prosecutor Rekha Hiwrale informed the court that the offence occurred between July 2017 and January 2018. According to the girl, whenever her mother was absent, the accused engaged in inappropriate touching and violated her modesty.
Unable to endure the abuse any longer, she disclosed her ordeal to her mother. Subsequently, a case was registered at Uttan Sagari police station.
Throughout the trial, the prosecution presented seven witnesses, including the girl and her mother.
