The Hyderabad Court on Friday granted regular bail to Telugu actor Allu Arjun, who had been named as an accused in a case related to a fatal stampede during the premiere of his film Pushpa-2.
The incident took place on December 4, 2024, at the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, where a large crowd gathered to see the actor. Tragically, a 35-year-old woman lost her life in the chaos, and her 8-year-old son was injured.
The II Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge had previously reserved the bail order, after hearing arguments from both the actor’s defense team and the police. Allu Arjun’s lawyer, Ashok Reddy, confirmed that the court granted bail, with the condition that the actor provide two sureties of Rs 50,000 each. The actor was also instructed to report to the investigating officer on Sunday.
Allu Arjun had been arrested on December 13, 2024, and was granted interim bail by the Telangana High Court the following day, which was valid for four weeks, expiring on January 10. The actor, who was named as accused number 11 in the case, filed for regular bail and appeared via video conference before the court on December 27.
Following the tragic stampede, the police registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), based on a complaint from the family of the deceased woman. The investigation is ongoing, and legal proceedings will continue as the case develops.
